Upon arrival at Srinagar Airport, you will be warmly received by our representative who will assist you with your transfer to Sonmarg, a stunning valley also known as the “Meadow of Gold.” The 3-hour drive takes you through beautiful Kashmiri landscapes—lush green valleys, quaint villages, and the sparkling Sind River that runs alongside the road. As you ascend, the scenery becomes more alpine, with snow-capped peaks and dense forests. On reaching Sonmarg, check into your hotel and take some time to relax after the journey. The rest of the evening is free for leisure—you can explore the serene surroundings, take a peaceful walk by the riverside, or simply rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Day 02: Sonmarg to Kargil via Drass – A High-Altitude Journey (6–7 hrs)
After breakfast, begin your adventurous journey towards Kargil, crossing the high-altitude Zoji La Pass (11,575 ft), one of the most breathtaking and dramatic mountain routes in the region. En route, stop at Drass, known as the second coldest inhabited place in the world, and visit the Kargil War Memorial Hall & Museum, a moving tribute to the brave soldiers of the 1999 Kargil War.
Proceed through rugged terrain and awe-inspiring landscapes before arriving in Kargil. After checking into your hotel and freshening up, head out for a short excursion to Hundurman Village, a historic border hamlet near the Line of Control. En route, stop at Diskit Village to visit the impressive Maitreya Buddha statue, which overlooks the valley and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Take a moment to explore the Diskit Monastery, one of the oldest in Nubra. Continue your scenic drive through rugged mountain terrain, picturesque valleys, and high-altitude passes—a journey that takes approximately 6 to 7 hours.
